Every place has its own rhythm, and somehow I always end up dancing to it – sometimes literally, sometimes metaphorically, but always with a deep appreciation for living life to the fullest. The instinct to move, to explore, and to follow the beat even when it changes is how I've approached this project, and how I choose to approach life. What started as a series of spontaneous trips and late‑night adventures slowly became something more intentional: a way of exploring how my gay identity shifts with each new place, each new community, and each new rhythm.
Choosing exploration has carried me from my home in Colorado into higher education in emerging industries, into leadership positions in organizations I've founded, into classrooms in the Netherlands and South Korea, into gay bars in cities I’d never been to, and into conversations that shifted how I understood myself. I’ve never been content standing still. I’m the person who embraces challenges because they seem interesting, who wanders into a neighborhood because the energy feels right, who takes the path less traveled in pursuit of a good story. Along the way, I’ve learned that identity isn’t something you arrive at; it’s something you grow into, shaped by the places you land, the people who welcome you, and the moments that surprise you. This page is my way of capturing the chaos, the joy, and the curiosity of movement and honoring the journey that’s made me who I am.
In 2024 I realized that I needed to move forward. I felt stuck in where I was, and struggled to feel a meaningful connection to the place I existed in or the communities I engaged with. I had loaded myself up with work and began to feel burnt out, unexcited, and unappreciative. So, with the support of those close to me and a scholarship, I planned an 8 month adventure to experience the world and learn more about how I engage with it. I quit my jobs, left organizations, ended my lease, and filled just a carry on suitcase and a backpack.
I have always valued traveling, and have enjoyed several other domestic and international trips before this grand excursion. There is something incredibly impactful about willingly distancing yourself from home, seeking new experiences, and accepting the risk of being uncomfortable.
This year, I will be finishing up my bachelors degree at the Colorado School of Mines in Business Engineering and Management Science, specializing in Financial Economics and Technology Management, with a minor in International Public Affairs. Then, I'll move on to my Masters in Engineering Technology Management for the next year.
I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to study in these fields, but find that my learning extends beyond a degree. I strongly believe that the greatest learning comes from practical application, learning from mistakes, and meaningful conversations. While I value my higher education, I intend to always be learning, expanding my perspective, and challenging ideas that are presented at face value.
I'm originally from Durango, Colorado, a rural town in southwest Colorado. I grew up on a few acres in the beautiful countryside, with chickens, rabbits, gardens, and mountains. The area is beautiful, and I was craving something bigger. So, in 2022 I moved to Denver to attend university, enjoying the unique accessibility of the mountains and the city. I've lived in Denver since then, but I also spend lots of time in Chicago, Illinois, with my partner, Adamson! I enjoy spending time outdoors but also need the hustle and social life of a big city.
During my studies, I worked in a variety of internship and part-time roles. Most notably, I worked as an Assistant Project Manager for a construction project management/owners representative firm for two years. In my role I primarily supported the financial management of projects, and specialized in K-12 education facilities.
In 2023 I founded the National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE) Mines Chapter and assumed presidency for the next two years. During my time with this organization, I grew membership to 70+ members, raised over $10,000 worth of funding, partnered with various corporate brands including PepsiCo and Chevron, and worked to provide unique experiences to students across campus and beyond. My time with NOBE Mines culminated in the organization and management of the NOBE National Conference, which brought together professionals and students from across North America.
I absolutely love to travel and see new parts of this incredible world. When I'm not in a plane, for work or play, you can probably find me in the nearest gay bar. I love to meet new people, socialize, and enjoy a fun night of dancing! By daytime, however, I enjoy cooking, running, art galleries, and listening to music.
I'm so happy to have spent the last year with my incredible boyfriend, Adamson! We love to travel, try new foods, dance and meet new friends! While it's rare that we're in the same city, we love coming together to debrief our adventures and make memories in new places!
